This intensive two-day, face-to-face course equips healthcare professionals with the advanced knowledge and practical skills required to manage critically ill or injured children. You’ll learn how to effectively handle cases of respiratory failure, circulatory collapse, and paediatric cardiac arrest through a combination of theory, hands-on training, and high-fidelity simulation.

Duration: 2 full days (in-person) at our Manchester training centre
Learning Methods:
Hands-on skills practice using SimMan, airway trainers, and paediatric manikins
Tutor-led workshops, team-based scenarios, and realistic simulations
Interactive debriefing sessions and reflective discussions
Pre-course Requirement: Mandatory RCUK e-learning module via the Learning Management System
Course Features
Identify and manage deteriorating paediatric patients using the ABCDE assessment approach
Deliver high-quality paediatric CPR and perform safe defibrillation
Stabilise critically ill children and manage paediatric cardiac arrest scenarios
Perform effective airway management, including adjunct use and bag-valve-mask ventilation
Lead and support multidisciplinary paediatric resuscitation teams
Apply leadership, communication, and human factors principles in emergencies
Conduct structured SBAR handovers and ensure safe escalation of care
This course is delivered by experienced NHS emergency and paediatric clinicians
In order to enable individualized treatment and maximum communication we keep our classes to a small size. With this, it becomes possible for every student to receive individualized feedback, gain the attention that he or she needs in order to learn, and be able to practice the skills repeatedly.
If your EPALS certification has expired within the last 12 months, you can recertify by attending Day 2 of a standard course.
